August 2023

Once August started, I knew I needed to get to work on the Primary Presentation. I wrote it all and asked for suggestions. It ended up really nice.

I took my girls paddleboarding and it was so beautiful!

Lucy took this picture of me and Brooklyn and it has been my screen saver ever since.

A typical paddleboarding day with plenty of bags and life jackets

Darcee and Mabrey came and Mabrey just wanted to splash around in the shallow area with her mermaid toys and her mom

Party in the water!

My friend Debbie sent me this from school of Benjamin and Corban together at lunch

Corban's tie clipping needs a bit of work

Our sweet Karina had her special performance. Isaac and Lucy went to it.

A fun screen-saver surprise for me from Lucy

Corban testing out my new board. It made us so nervous because they could fall against any edges or rocks.

Arrow isn't much of a water puppy but we love to try to get him to swim with us

Out on the water with Jenny. . . and the donkeys

I'll have to put the other picture in here first if I can, but Isaac totaled our Hundai on his way home from school with Lucy and Ethan Leber. He wanted to pull out of the turning lane and go straight on 67th but didn't realize how close he was to the car ahead of him. He hit that car, which bumped the next car in the row. Isaac's airbags inflated and the glass shattered. I hated getting the phone call from both kids that they were in an accident. This is Doug posing with our new Hyundai after we bought it.

Our kids outside playing sports. Lucy got mad at me for sending a picture of her kicking a soccer ball to her team. That is apparently very uncool.

Celebrating Jenny's birthday!

Lots of fun girl time on the water

This series was super interesting.

Brooklyn made her school softball team. This is her and Eva after practice

This was our packing list for a girls' trip to Cali for Lucy's first travel tournament!

I packed my raincoat because a hurricane/tropical storm was forecasted.

Girls on the beach. Brooklyn decided to boogie board with me on my paddleboard and we had SOOOOO much fun. It kind of dinged up my board a little and Brooklyn trashed these new white shorts she is wearing in the picture. . . and Brooklyn landed on her head on a rock! And my bruises were pretty powerful. I don't want to boogieboard in Carlsbad again because of all the rocks.

The siccer venue. We ended up winning the tournament because we had the most points when they canceled the tournament for the tropical storm after Saturday night.

We hung out with Karina, Kush, and Brij. It was so much fun!

My beautiful bruises

The sunset Saturday night was incredible.

Girls after the game

We drove Brij and Karina home with us. . . but half an hour into the drive, I got a flat tire. It was horrible. Kush drove back from heading for his own home and helped me go to multiple places until we could find someone to replace my tire. The guy was our hero! He doesn't work on Sundays ordinarily, but he took pity on us and another family who had car trouble during the storm.

We went to a gas station where the workers chose to keep the store open even though it had no electricity. The winds were so fierce. What a nightmare trip that was! It definitely bonds you to people, though.

So much posing in this car while I was outside trying to make gas pumps work

Then when I got home, I got to help Jenny change her tire! We worked really hard with Kellie and finally had a victory

An action shot of Lu--not very amazing. We were trying to use it for Lucy's fitness class to show her participating in athletic activity, but they would not allow her team sports to count toward her exercise. What in the world?!

Meanwhile, Brian Sheide stayed with us for about three weeks before his internship finished and he treated us to Coldstone. It was delicious!

Then Doug and I ditched our crew to go to Island Park as an anniversary getaway with "Third Floor" (our former cluster and wives, Troy and Shiloh, and Josh and Brooke).

Doug in West Yellowstone. This was the picture for one of their market meetings.

We found a really amazing art store in Jackson Hole.

Me posing with my new pants I got in Jackson

Brook posing in the new cheap red sunglasses I bought from the gas station in Island Park.
