I'm grateful for nap time. My kids all go down at the same time (if I time it correctly, and this is no easy feat!) so I have time to nap when I need to, and get work done, which I always need to do.
I just woke up from a cozy nap, and feel profoundly grateful that I can get one when I need it. And now I'll work.
Several hours later:
Hey, I've got more I'm grateful for today. Christine reminded me of some things I love.
A few days ago, I was talking to Lucy about my classes, and I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up--a teacher, a lawyer, a writer?
She heard me out, and then put her hands on her hips and said, "Mommy, you forgot about being a mommy! I want to be a mommy when I grow up!" And she means it. She tells me all the time about how she is going to be married in the temple to a handsome young man, and then she is going to have children. I defy my mom to recall me saying anything like that growing up. I think it's cool. And I might feel a tiny bit bad that I forgot to mention being a mother as a potential career path:).
And Isaac thinks he is amazing at telling jokes, and tells them all the time. In the car on the way home today, he asked Lucy, "Why did the manatee cross the road?" She dutifully said she didn't know, and asked why. He burst forth, "Because he thought it was the ocean!!!! Isn't that funny? A manatee on the street?"
I love my kids, and their fun personalities. I hope we'll be best friends when we're older, like I am with my mom and sister.
