January, 2016

On our way home from Utah, Lucy asked me to take a picture of her at the Pocatello Jack-in-the-Box. So here you go.
The most exciting event of the month was when I went to my first doctor's appointment. I found out I was farther along in my pregnancy than I originally thought, and I found out we were going to have a boy. It was so exciting! Our baby is due on June 22nd. The pregnancy has been hard with morning sickness and constant ballooning. I think it's been harder psychologically than physically, just knowing that our lives will get harder, that we'll sleep less, that I will become the size of a whale after working so hard to have a strong, healthy body. I hate how I look pregnant, so this just becomes an enduring game. The best thing about pregnancy is seeing the baby in the ultrasounds, feeling the baby move, and hearing that everything about the baby looks perfect.
Right after we found out the gender of our baby, we told our kids. I sent this picture to my family to say that Cason is excited to have a little baby in the family.

Another huge epoch in January was when Brooklyn got her tonsils and adenoids removed. I was so proud of this little girl. She and I showed up at the hospital at 6 in the morning, and she was prepared with her "Monkey Baby", a blanket, her footie pajamas, and a great big smile.

More happiness and cute posing after she changed into her short hospital gown. It was hard to see her so happy and excited when I knew she would be so miserable after the surgery.

She was incredibly sleepy after her post-surgery medicine, but I just wanted to get her home. The nurse pulled her to the door in a wagon and I carried her to the car.

Hours later, here is my amazing girl smiling again. I really couldn't be prouder.

A few days later, Lucy, Brooklyn, and Lucy did an excavation project and discovered "jewels". They were excited.

Here's a picture of some of my comfort food: Killer Dave's bread with butter and honey. It's so good! It may explain some of my incessant weight gain.

This was my centerpiece on my bar for a while. Breezy sent me a Barnes and Noble gift card with an awesome card I couldn't throw away. You can also see my "Ponderize" frame--a Christmas gift from the Primary presidency. I've been writing scriptures there to memorize and ponder about.

And one final activity in January: our family was in charge of face painting at the Cub Scout carnival, and I am not the most amazingly talented face painter. Brooklyn is supposed to look like a monkey.
