Born in West Virginia, Isaac Bowen understands the absolute necessity of camo. His loved ones in Utah (alias Grandma, Peanut, Eric, River, and Haven) knew he would need to be prepared for the rugged terrain and country roads in West Virginia and got him gifts befitting this need. Because who DOESN'T need camo Airwalks, a camo hat, a camo sweatshirt and a reversible camo down vest? Isaac needs them. Badly:). Plus, should he be enlisted, he will be able to save the armed forces money on uniforms by providing his own.
Isaac's Great-Grandma in Utah, on the other hand, is working to civilize Isaac. So far away from her in West Virginia, Isaac may potentially spend his days hunting deer and wild turkeys, like his friends. Which is fine, as long as he makes sure to reverence the sabbath. Grandma provided the button-down shirt, the vest, and the pants to make Isaac look respectable, and even now, he is so grateful for the gesture. Twenty years down the road, he'll look back on her outfit with unspeakable emotion, aware that that little outfit saved his spiritual life. Thank you, Great-grandma!
A last note on the pictures: We wanted to test Isaac's Airwalks without completely freezing the boy to death, so we only took off one side of his pjs. Then we saw that Isaac got a pair of amazing fat-boy jeans (the waist of 12-month jeans doesn't usually fit Isaac because his belly is so big, but this pair worked!) so we put the jeans on too. We're modeling Isaac's comfortable walking abilities in one picture; Isaac took his first four steps all on his own on Thursday, October 18th, and we were very proud--he still prefers it when we hold his hand though. And about the last picture; Isaac wasn't really sad, but I took 16 pictures in the span of 4 minutes and I think the flash hurt his eyes a little. What a handsome little boy in his camo hat!
