Folks, I stayed on the treat-free wagon for a whole week. And here were the temptations that were literally placed before me:
1) Monday: s'mores at a friend's house
2) Tuesday: cookies, ice cream bars, and root beer floats at the Youth activity
3) Wednesday: Doug's surgery (honestly, stress often makes me feel like I need a treat.)
4) Thursday: cream soda (brought to me by one of Doug's nurses);
5) hot chocolate (at a friend's house--the very same s'more temptress);
6) cupcakes at our door;
7) Friday: muffins brought by my mom
8) Saturday: donuts (at the youth roadshow rehearsal)
9) cookies from McDonald's, bought by my mother
10) Sunday: home made pumpkin cupcakes (at church)
Honestly, that is a lot of temptation, and I still stayed on the wagon. And I lost some weight:).
The moral of this story: I actually have self control around food. I honestly never knew that! I didn't work out 5-6 times this week because of Doug's surgery and needs. I worked out 3 times.
If anyone feels frustrated about lacking self control with treat consumption, I encourage you to do my "treat" challenge. It really was neat to know I could turn down a treat.
So what am I going to do this week? I haven't decided yet. I celebrated my achievement by eating a fiber granola bar with chocolate on it. It tasted...fibrous?
I'd like to set a new goal this week, so I'll just do that now...
Goals: 1) work out 5-6 times this week 2) eat three treats throughout the week (including that fibrous granola bar)
Go, me! And go, you, if you're so inclined! Let me know and I'll cheer for you. Thanks, Mary Ann, for being my wagon-buddy.

I am so proud of you! Great job! I was so looking forward to delicious cupcakes today to end my "being good" week and celebrate Austin's birthday but alas, we are all miserably sick so my treat today was soup. Also, glad to hear things turned out okay for Doug. Poor guy!
