Multi-Tasking

My Bowen family likes for us to send an email each month that details what we've been up to during the month. For all you non-Bowens out there, here's our update for the month of February:

All of us: we all went out to eat together on Valentine's Day at La Panera, a yummy restaurant close by our home. We all got a nasty stomach virus a few days before that and survived. We all played with toys in our living room every night. We all got to visit our new neighbor friend, Aunt Ruth, who is 93 years old. She's pretty cute. We found out that we'll get the townhouse we want, starting in the fall. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and our friends have been living there, so hopefully they'll leave behind some of their awesome furntiture so they can buy all-new stuff when they get to Utah. The townhouse is also nice because our next-door neighbors are a Mormon family--we can "monitor sit" for each other and I'll have a ready-made service opportunity because my friend will be having her second little boy in July.

Doug and I: We're reading President Ezra Taft Benson's biography together and having a lot of fun discussing it. We haven't gotten to do a date night outside our apartment in a while because one of us has been sick every weekend, but let's hope this Friday affords a great date-night opportunity!

Doug: Doug applied for a job at the library that would completely eliminate his tuition fees. The drawback: he'd probably have to work on Sundays. He told one of the librarians about how he would prefer not to work on Sundays if possible, and we haven't found out yet if Doug will get the job. Doug wants to head up a basketball team for our ward so we can blow the other guys out of the water in a stake tournament. Doug hasn't touched a basketball in two years, so he is hoping to get really good by practicing once or twice before the tournament. Doug's plugging away at his school work and he actually likes most of his classes this semester. And Doug's extremely handsome.

Isaac and I: I've been having fun taking Isaac all over Morgantown. Isaac's little friends have all been sick (viruses, bronchitis, ear infections, etc.) so we've kept him away from them for the most part and we've hung out at the Chick Fil-A indoor playground, the library, and the Rec Center. I've been reading some pretty good books and Isaac has been a voracious reader as well. His favorites include "Let's Go to the Zoo" and "A Pocket for Cordoroy." Isaac's vocabulary keeps growing and we just love cuddling with our little bear. I've been doing Zumba at the Rec Center, which has been a nice way for me to spend fun time with my girlfriends.

Enjoy some silly recent photos. #1: Doug with his half-cantalope and cottage cheese. He brought this little ensemble into the living room and I started giggling and taking pictures. He couldn't understand why his meal would be funny to me... I know cantalope can be served that way, and I've seen it that way in pictures, but it strikes me as an unsuccessful attempt on a restaurant's part to appear classy--to me, it just doesn't make a lot of sense on a Tuesday afternoon for a quick snack in the living room. Way to be healthy, sweetheart.

Pic #2: Doug getting ready to pay $10 to watch "the big game" at BYU. Doug knew Jeremy and Darcee would be at the game, cheering on the Cougs, and Doug wanted to be there in spirit. I'm proud of his dedication. He's wearing the headphones because he worries about waking Isaac up (a valid concern when the child is sleeping 20 feet away--bless our itty-bitty, cute apartment).

Tara formerly Sheidi (I'm probably spelling that wrong!) I surely hope you remember me, because I remember you. I found you by stalking Teagan's blog, and I got so excited! It's me, Jenn (formerly Fisk) now Savage! First of all, how cool are you that you have your Masters degree, in Lit. no less! I'm so proud! Plus you have a cute little boy and a husband. Way to go. Anyway, I am now adding your blog to blogs that I regularly read and stalk. Hope that's okay with you. What are you up to these days? Are you living in Provo (that's all I could sort of surmise). So tell me the whole story--and you can check out my blog too if you have time/inclination!

I love that your hubbs family requests that you send these updates. What a treasure of family history you are making. Absolutely love the pink and read- not ghastly- picture.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. It has been such a good experience for me to take some time to just write out some thoughts, and it's a plus to think that anyone else would want to read them. People in this world are nice.

You have your Masters in Lit?! Yikes, and you've been reading my blog! How embarrassing! Please forgive me in my feeble writing ways.

Just so fun to hear from you.

You must get this a lot, but you have cute boys!

I also love that family photo. You guys are all extremely good looking people. And your little baby looks so much like a sheide! He could be your brother. :)
