*I just updated this post with some cute/precious/glorious/funny pictures from a minute ago. Brooklyn fell asleep on my bed as I was unpacking, so I took a few pictures of her there, then transported the bottom portion of her pack-n-play to the bathroom so I can keep packing and she can dream on, uninterrupted. There are only three bedrooms in our town home, so Doug and I have a room, Isaac and Lucy have their own rooms, and Brooklyn gets to sleep in the laundry room. Unfortunately, I'm washing clothes right now, and I don't fancy having Brooklyn wake up when the washing machine ends its cycle. Hence, the temporary bathroom solution. I suspect we'll keep playing musical pack-n-play until we finally find a good situation for everyone. To those of you who have your 4 and 2-year-olds sleep in the same room, my hat is off to you. But my children have done an exceptional job in the past of proving how disastrous it is to let them "sleep" in the same room, and I just can't do it yet. Update over:)*
I may as well seize this rare moment wherein my oldest two are occupied and my baby is sleeping. We moved, and "I think I'm gonna like it here." Things I like:
1)My kitchen cupboards--so many of them!
2) My neighbors--we're already making good friends
3) Doug's commute--it was so nice to have him home before 5:30 yesterday!
4) Air conditioning (just fixed yesterday)
5) flat roads--while this won't prepare me for the wonderful Pocatello marathon, I love running on flat roads and they'll be great as my kids learn how to bike ride
6) being close to Target and Old Navy
7) my area--true, I got lost on my run yesterday, but the area is pretty, new, and safe. To prove this, Doug left his keys ON TOP OF HIS CAR last night, and found them there this morning. Good proving, Doug.
There are some things I don't like:
1) I don't love being a renter, knowing that my landlord, at any time, can evict us. He emailed Doug last night, expressing that his family is having financial difficulties, so they don't want to fix minor things in our house (like window screens with holes in them, chewed by mice, or water faucets that gush water, or toilets that sing to us after we flush them...). So that's frustrating. We'll be landlords too, and we expect to deal with problems in our house. I'm not a big fan of fixing things and paying for them in both houses.
2) Also, when we came to this house, there was mouse poop everywhere...and I saw a FAT mouse run across our floor on our first day here. Doug saw it too, and proceeded to launch an extermination project. He has set traps, seen blood trails leading from the trap toward a mouse hole, and puttied the hole. We hope our mouse problem is over (except for the stupid holes in the screens.)
3)We've lost some privacy by moving to a town home. I love open windows, but now I know people could be walking by my back windows looking in. That's a bummer.
Overall, we like our home, it's starting to feel like our home, and we hope to stay here for a few years. I'll post pictures as soon as we've finished unloading boxes!

Eeek! I am glad that you are getting settled into your new home, but having to evict the former residents (I mean the mice) is not a fun job! I am sorry you have to deal with that while you get unpacked and settled...that is definitely a big enough job on its own.
And good luck with the musical bedrooms. We tried putting our girls together for the few nights Daniel's mom was visiting, and it was quite the party in there at night. Either a party or a crying match...not sure which one.
I am glad that you have more of a husband home at night. It makes such a wonderful difference! Daniel is done quite a bit earlier now that we are in Kansas City, and it is just fabulous.
And I am impressed you are already hitting the streets...way to go!
Yea! Glad you guys got all moved in! I've been wanting to call you all week so see how everything went. Sorry about the mice. They are not fun. I can't wait to visit to picture where you are now! I'm so glad that you get Doug more - you will both be glad for that! Love you all!
I am so glad you posted those pictures- Brooklyn just made my night. And I'm glad that there are so many positive things for you guys in your new town and I desperately hope the mouse situation is resolved soon! Good luck!
What sweet pictures! So glad you're closer to Doug's work. What a treat to have him home so early!
