And...Regression

At five weeks old, plus a day, we are falling from grace. Brooklyn began sleeping well at night in her bassinet last week, and Doug and I were so excited. She would be pretty easy for Doug's shift, then I'd feed her when she cried, and put her back in the bassinet. Things were moving in the right direction.

But over the weekend, Brooklyn slipped back to her brand-new newborn naughty status. She is fine during the day, but she has gotten fussy at night. I put her into her bassinet after feeding her at night and she just cries until I pick her up again. And she's back in bed with me. Oh, 5-6 week peak of fussiness, get thee behind me! Let my little newborn sleep well at night, so Doug and I can sleep in the same bed at night, and so we can do well with company coming!

Doug's mom and sister, Ashley, and her three children are coming to stay with us, and then Derek and Jeremy's families, and hopefully Jessica's family as well. We may somehow have 23 people in our house for the 4th of July weekend. I can't tell you how excited Doug is to get family here. Because he is new at his job, he gets very little vacation time, so having family come here is a huge blessing. Brooklyn's going to have her baby blessing this Sunday, and it will be special to have family here for that as well.

Brooklyn just needs to get over her fussiness at night this second so we don't have a full house of people listening to a screaming newborn. I just want everyone to love her and be charmed by her:).

I have felt that pain and I am here to tell you that (as you already know due to more experience than I have) it will end soon! Everyone needs a cheerleader to remind them of that though, right? Because I am cheering you on from afar. Being a mom to a newborn is hard work. And all of the people who are visiting will know that and be charmed by her (and the fact that they aren't the ones that have to get up with her). :) She is one precious ball of cuteness bytheway. Just gorgeous!
