My title sounds like something out of "Where the Wild Things Are"--can anyone remember the exact quote?
Anyway, I'm chiefly just posting pictures of my newest love. I've been so annoyed that my camera is broken--and thus unable to do Brooklyn justice--but I have to keep taking pictures of her with it, to preserve her newborn-ness. As I told Brooklyn this morning, I love having a newborn!
Some explanation of pictures: the pictures of her in yellow are from this morning. She has a doctor's appointment this afternoon, so I'll post her stats from it here later in the day.
The pictures of her in white are from Friday--I did a mini workout in my room, dancing to music, while Brooklyn chilled in her bassinet. Then I danced with her a little, and took a picture of us together:).
And the update: I look forward to when I can sleep for longer than 4 hours uninterrupted, but I want to enjoy the journey, and there's a lot to be grateful for, like
1) Brooklyn's not a spitter. I'm hoping that means no acid reflux in her future! She just poops 4,000 times a day. But it really does save me from sticking bibs on her all the time, and changing my clothes all the time. Also, she sleeps with me in bed right now, and I don't have to worry about her spitting up all over the bed. I don't even put a blanket under her!
2) Isaac and Lucy love Brooklyn. They want to give her kisses all the time, and too often disobey my admonition that they leave her alone when she's sleeping. They just want to cuddle with her all the time. She's a fun new toy for all of us:).
3) We have a new mini-van that keeps Brooklyn protected from her siblings--who sit in the far back together. Doug traded his truck in for the van, so the van isn't added to our debt, which is lovely. Sometimes, I love Doug's single-minded determination. He devoted maybe 14 hours of research to finding the perfect van for our family, then drove down to Salt Lake on Saturday to get it. I love him for sacrificing his gorgeous truck, and for respecting my plea that we not add to our debt. For the record, Doug wanted the van, not me. I was happy driving my Dodge Intrepid with the three kids in the back. But I was supportive of his trade-in idea:).
Doug and I feel like we're being stretched pretty thin right now. Doug only has 4 months of experience with his job, so it is still pretty stressful. Plus, he is always preparing for trials. Plus, he has to drive for an hour and a half each day, meaning he has to get up at 5:30 am way too often, and doesn't get as much time with our family as he wants. Plus, I'm teaching two classes, taking care of a newborn and my other kids, recovering from the delivery, sleep deprived, and I don't have my husband to help me most of the time. And because our house is on the market, I am constantly cleaning, just in case someone calls and says he wants to show our house in an hour. And we haven't had any offers on our house. And we don't have family here to relieve us of our burdens. So yeah, we're stretched.
So here are Brooklyn's stats now: weight: 8 lbs, 11 oz.; height: 20 1/4. She's not huge, but she's gained almost a pound from her low weight. Way to go, Brooklyn!

In "Where the Wild Things Are" Max "sailed off through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year to where the wild things are." Lucky that Madeline and I read that book all the time right now. :) Cute pictures!
Does a minivan make you feel old. We got our van after our third too and it made leaving the house so much more enjoyable not fighting 3 car seats crammed in the back of the car. That drive does seem worse when Daddy should be home at night and 5:30 sounds way to early.
Hang in there. I'm sorry things are hard, but hopefully you'll get into more of a routine. And yeah, I had to buy a minivan at age 24. Good times. But it does make life easier. :)
You are so busy! And amazing:) Congratulations on a beautiful addition to your family! Keep us posted on all your adventures!
I cannot imagine doing what you are doing PLUS having a newborn. You really are amazing, no really, you are. I hope you give yourself credit for all of the awesomeness that you are accomplishing. This is me, your cheerleader from afar, being super impressed. Having said that, I really hope you can get a little break soon. Come on house, sell sell sell!
