Faint, Anyone?

I may not be a whiz at math, but I know that pregnant lady + hot sun (100 degree weather) + football game = fainting. Duh. So I went to the BYU football game anyway and ended up lying down on the bleachers with my legs on my mom's lap, my head on Doug's, and Doug pouring water on me and fanning me with ONE of his programs. Here we are about 45 minutes before that:

Was it worth it? Sure. Look at my happy husband:). He may look concerned, but he's just mid-happy-whoop.

Something I gained from my almost-passing out experience was the reminder of how awesome it is to be loved by my mom forever. She joined me in the large hallway by Portal E to sit in the shade and watch the game on the big screen. This meant a WAY less cool viewing experience, but I love that she was willing to do that with me and for me. I'm still her daughter and she still takes care of me and that touches me, particularly when I feel like I have to take care of myself a lot of the time.

Speaking of a self-centered focus, I am STILL not over my persnickety selfish phase. I keep expecting Doug to pamper me and nurture me through my pregnancy--I want to be the center of our family because I'm pregnant and I think that means everyone should take care of me.

And how do I feel about pregnancy at 33 weeks? I agree with my grandma, who says that I really should have waited longer to tell people I was pregnant because this pregnancy seems like it's been going on for a long time. Good point. I wish we'd all learned about it 4 or 5 months in. People say the second pregnancy flies by and that's a bunch of hooplah in my case. There is no flying; there is only physical growth.

With all the complaining, there is still excitement and accomplishment... this is what Lucy's room looks like now (flip to the "before" picture a few posts ago to feel properly impressed):

Only three pieces of furniture fit into her tiny room, but she's got some good closet space, and we'll just deal. We ordered her bedding today after Doug assembled both kids' cribs, so you can check it out online if you're interested. It's Lambs and Ivy's Secret Garden.

Other accomplishments this week? I worked out consistently this week, helped can peaches, kept our home tidy, cooked a bit, wrote a bit, finished all the talks in the Conference Ensign, listened to and defended Sarah Palen, spent time with extended family and showered occasionally. Way to go, me!

And I'll close with an Isaac update: He's busted into the world of sentences. Most of these sentences start with "I want..." and he can really do this for a couple minutes: "I want.... I want.... I want .... um... I want..." and eventually he decides that he wants to read Mother Goose or whatever, but it's pretty funny. I'm glad that he is able to express himself better, but I'm kind of put out that his top two wants are "La-di Song" (a Sesame Street DVD he loves) and "fruit snacks, please." I love the kid anyway.

I want... I want... my own personal labor day to be sooner rather than later.

I am very impressed with her room and envious that she has one!! Wesley is still bunking with me while we're STILL looking for a house.

You are a trooper to go to the game on Saturday. And Doug does look so happy. I still can't believe you are here and not in WV.

Cute room! I looked at the bedding because I'm a nerd like that, and I loved that too! I'm glad you're okay after the fainting spell. I always forgot to treat myself carefully when I was pregnant too. And it's funny that people think your pregnancy is going on so long, I couldn't believe it when you said you're already 34 weeks!

Have I ever told you how much I enjoy reading your blog? I get so excited to read it because your writing and humor are so fun to read. I think it also goes along with how real you are. Everything you talk about really strikes a cord with me and I feel like I can relate in so many ways. I still think it's awesome you're naming your little girl Lucy. Did I ever tell you one of our top boy names is Isaac? Kind of creepy. I know.

May I say, Mrs. Bowen, that you are looking FANTASTIC!!!!! This is the first belly shot I've seen of you, and you are looking fit as a fiddle. That baby is going to thank you for staying so active while she's baking. Speaking of awesome moms...tell yours I say hello. I'm glad she was there for you. I thought I appreciated and loved mine...then I became a mother myself. I finally understand how much she loves me, and what she gave up for me. It's fun to think that someday our little ones will realize that too, then will come up to us and say "Thanks, mom."

I love reading your blog Tara, you write so well. It always makes me laugh! We thought about you and Doug this weekend when WVU was playing. We were remembering how you were such big BYU fans, and after I read this blog, it just proves how big of fans you are! You look wonderful, just think, a few more weeks and it will all be done and you will have a beautiful baby girl! We miss you guys. I can't wait to see pictures of the baby!
