May and June 2020

May was full of more online schooling and increasingly hot weather. This was what our rental home looked like that month.

Corban watching his singing teacher from primary try to help the kids learn songs remotely.

Playing at Jeremy and Darcee's pool saved our lives!

Cason showed off his work for me daily.

My cousin Doug got married outside. During COVID, there were a lot of small outdoor weddings. As a sidenote, my aunt Margie got lyme disease there and got super sick.

Corban's beautiful eyes.

Building accomplishments

I let the girls do some of their work on the couch so they wouldn't be as distracted. It ended up spreading the mess all over the house so we reined it back in.

Beautiful flowers from Doug

I had high hopes that this book would help Cason become a great reader. We moved through the whole thing, but I don't think it helped much.

We loved getting shaved ice as often as possible.

Brooklyn wrote a great piece about Doug being her role model.

We went to Madeira Canyon with my mom and it was a bunch of fun.

The beautiful birthday girl

We loved going to the Odysea Aquarium as much as possible.

Isaactrying on new glasses with a mask--so ridiculous, but COVID revealed no consistency and no explanations.
A typical chore sheet for us. I have tweaked it over the years, but there are several main expectations. Are they always achieved? Why, no.

June: Unfortunately, these are out of order, but I'll explain them. At the end of June, a terrible fire swept across Traverse Mountain right across the highway from Peanut and Eric's house. This was their view from their upstairs bedroom closet. Miraculously, the fire didn't damage any of the houses there.

Corban enjoying his big boy bed. We inherited the bedding and furniture from their cousin, Blake.
This nightgown cracks me up. I bought it at Walmart thinking it was pretty and reminiscent of the nightgowns I wore as a little girl in Minnesota but when I tried it on, Doug's face seriously looked pained. He let me know that I looked like one of the residents at his nursing home. I still wear it, and it makes me laugh. I even brought it to Minnesota because it just seems to belong there.
Lucy helped decorate Corban's birthday cake.

This was what he wanted to wear to church one day. We made some adjustments.
This was awesome! I got to watch a scrimmage at River and Haven't school where River was facing off against Haven, and Peanut was the ref. I wish I could blow this pic up.
We had a great visit to Delta at the start of June--and it snowed on us while we were there in the mountains to roast s'mores.
We were so underdressed to get snowed on.
The kids licking snow flakes. I believe Lucy was hiding in the car at this point.
The kids worked on a little skit for a youth activity.

Lucy enjoyed trying on the many hand-me downs she got from River and Haven
A fun hike with cousins

We had an amazing ghost-town experience at BYU! We all had to wear masks and I let the kids each get something from the BYU bookstore.
I have never seen the Wilkinson Center so deserted.
This is where Doug proposed to me, so the kids had to reenact it.
