June Review

June was such a great, eventful month! Here's a funny picture of Corban's hair blowing in the breeze at the start of the month in Mom's backyard.
One of our last trips to the Thanksgiving Point Museum of Natural Curiosity

One of the great things about Dou'gs job is that we got paid to do a family vacation together before Doug moved to Olympia to start his job. We started our week of fun at Lagoon. Here's Brook and Doug.

And our cool map.

Cason on the bumper cars

Isaac on one of the rides

Corban's first merry-go-round experience!!! I think this is the only ride he went on.

Our cute little Corban doing the right thing on our trip up to Island Park. We spent the night at a hotel in Farmington and had two adjoining rooms. Marvelous!!!!!!

Doug caught our dinner. Yay!!!

Old Faithful lived up to its name. We spent SO much money at the cafeteria in Yellowstone.

We had planned to move to a house in Lacey, but a girl in the Olympia Third ward said "Don't go to Lacye, and Bishop Neeley's wife, Alicia, in the Olympia 1st ward, let us know this house was available for rent. We rented it sight unseen, but Doug checked it out when he got to Washington. He stayed in a hotel for a few weeks until the house was vacant. Then he slept on an air mattress until we moved in mid-July. I'm so glad he flew down to help us move!

One of our last aquarium trips

My sweet pumkin the day before his birthday. He seemed healthy here, but had a raging cold the next day for his birthday.

Such a cutie. It was so fun to see him standing. He took his first steps before his birthday, but became a consistent, steady walker after our Minnesota trip.

The birthday boy enjoying his first ice cream cone at Arctic Circle.

I thought he sounded wheezy, so I brought him to the doctor and they gave us a nebulizer. He's wearing one of my favorite purchases of the summer: He and Cason both had shirts that say "My Dad is my Hero." I don't think the nebulizer treatments made much of a difference.

Doug sent us pictures of the Father's Day banquet he helped set up at work. We may start going to those on Father's Day each year.

Does showed me this meme. It's fantastic.

I had such a wonderful time at the BYU-I online conference! I drove down with Carmen, we had a blast at the barbeque, and I posted this picture on Facebook from Torri's house because Sarah's pink leggings look like she isn't wearing pants in the picture. So funny.

Me and my precious roommate before our run that night. Sad thing: she got a blood blister from her medication and our run and had to be pushed in a wheelchair the next day. I wish she'd gone back with me!

That day, I drove to my race registration, so excited for my first half marathon of the year.

That night, we also had a celebration for the kids' bible camp. They had such a wonderful time! I loved that they got to do this. I tried to build bridges with their community leaders, giving their contact info to Jessica so she could see if we could do some joint activities with the youth.

The race was wonderful, and I was on pace to run the race in 1 hour and 40 minutes when mile 10.5 hit, and something was wrong with my right foot. It hurt so badly, and I slowed and wondered whether or not I should finish. I just kept limping through it as the pain worsened, and I limped over the finish line and straight to the medical tent to see what in the world was wrong. I had plantar fasciitis, and I was destined not to run more than twice for the rest of the summer!

I had Mindy's name on my arm and Carmen's on my leg because I was running for them. It's a run against cancer, and I'd love to run it every year.

Meanwhile, Doug was exploring Washington and sending us cool pictures. The summers here are amazing!

Here's Mom and her cousins. It was good for them to visit.

And me with my poor foot. Buck Mendenhall, my physical therapist, thought I had a borderline stress fracture or plantar fasciitis. He helped me get physically able to walk without a limp with conscious effort before my trip to Minnesota.

My darlings completed their work books! It was so awesome! I still have the kids do workbooks throughout the school year and in the summer just so they're getting supplemental instruction.

One of our last trips to the children's museum

Lucy probably took this. I think it's funny that I'm reading with him in my arms.

An here is my sweet Lucy. I think she set that table for someone. Love that girl. It was a happy, marvelous June.
