September Adventures

September began with a desire to wrap up some projects before school began. This was how Isaac's bed looked with a paper above his head that he had created for Family Home Evening showing his responsibilities. One of his comments on the page was "Play hard, work soft."

And here's Cason's side. He had a picture dangling from his ceiling of one of the super heroes he created (probably Sticky Man.) On any given day, Cason will ask me around thirty times who I think would win in a fight, and the options range from real super heroes and monsters to made up superheroes like fork and spoon man. I usually guess incorrectly.

Right before school started, Isaac finished him summer workbook. That was great!

Doug and I worked on cleaning up and out our garage. It was awesome to load things up for the dump that we wouldn't need.

We did a final zoo trip before the kids headed to school. It was opening day at the aquarium.

Look at that cute Cason!

I love this picture of all the kids with the bubbles at the zoo.

Here's Isaac's 6th grade schedule. I still wish he could be in elemntary school for sixth grade, but he has liked this change. He struggles to get all his assignments turned in on time and turned in to the right bins and folders in Canvas, but I hope he will figure it out this year and soon! We're taking the kids out of school for four days to go to Tanner and Ashley's wedding, and I know that will make it harder for Isaac to stay on top of things.

The beautiful girls on their first day of school.

And my handsome Isaac, who goes to school an hour and a half after they do.

And these are my new lunchbag contents for the year: a drink (usually water), a fruit, a veggie, a PBJ sandwich, and a dessert. The desserts run out really quickly.

I took the littles to LA Fitness on the first day of school.

They also got super dirty at a nearby park.

I'm learning to grill chicken, but Doug is still way better than I am.

Isaac has taken up a new hobby. For his first time in the Fall, ever, he elected not to do a team sport, and instead decided to do climbing. He has really enjoyed it. It is expensive! I've just been paying for him to get instruction and climb on Friday nights, so far.

My beautiful, coordinated Lucy at her first soccer game. Her team has been doing really well.

And the cute littles on adventures with me. We went to Tolmie State Park that day, and it was beautiful. I can't get enough of the sea air and the beautiful trees in the same place.

And this was how I watched Brooklyn's soccer practice that night. I have taken to watching rainy practices from my comfortable car.

Preschool is in session! We have loved having Roman come learn with us.

New matching Batman raincoats for the boys

A cute team picture of Brooklyn with her fellow black panthers.

Cason celebrating a little goal in practice with his team. He likes soccer pretty well. He scored once in a game when the team champion passed him the ball.

We went to see the prophet at Safeco stadium a few Saturdays ago. It was amazing.

I love this shot of my boys on one of our hiking adventures in downtown Olympia.

Lucy got the part she wanted as Girl #1 in Polar Express. She gets to sing a beautiful duet in the play.

My runs have gotten faster. My best recent run was a 5 miler at an 8:06 pace.

On a few days during my current health challenge, my nutrition has been wonderful. Most of the time, I've just been trying to make it to the finish line each day, wanting way more food than I'm allowed to eat. My final weigh in and posting numbers happens tomorrow morning, and then I will go enjoy some cheesecake and some ice cream. I haven't lost weight on my current plan, which has been no dairy, no fruit, and staying within 1450 calories. Oops.

I took this picutre when I was stalled at an exit going home. Look how beautiful it is in Washington? The Fall has been breathtaking.

After scoring two goals for her team in the first half of a game, Lucy asked to be the goalie. This was her warming up while I worried about how it would go. She did well.

I took the preschool on a field trip to the Point Defiance Zoo, knowing my membership would expire within days. I miss that membership!

The girls and I volunteered with friends at the Food Bank on a day off school. It was smelly, gross work, but it was a great choice, and we celebrated with little desserts that weren't amazing.

And we finally put up decorations for Halloween. So exciting! Jeremy had come to stay with us, so it was fun to make things look great.

The boys at the game before BYU was trounced. They had a great day in Seattle. This was a pretty happy end to September.
