A Quick Drop-In, Complete with Lemons and Lemonade

My kids have been sick--collectively--for about five days, and Lucy was sick before that. I was sick for a while, and Doug was sick for a day. That means we have had a lot of quality "home" time. It has been okay. I think the kids are on the mend--their symphony of coughs has calmed itself down enough that I'm almost not embarrassed to bring them in public places. Almost.

1) The lemonade-y good side of being at home: there has been much snuggling. I love cuddling with my family!
The lemon-y bad side: I so desperately want to work out every day and I have been completely thwarted! My pregnant body is exhausted at the end of the day, so I just don't feel like mustering up energy to go to Gold's Gym after the kids are down. I can't take the kids there during the day when they're sick, and don't even mention me trying to work out before Doug goes to work--I'll blame my sleepy, pregnant body, but I hate setting my alarm to work out under normal circumstances.

More lemon/lemonade facts and thoughts:

2) Lemon: Doug is gone an extra 2-3 hours every work day because he is working in Idaho Falls.
Lemonade: He really likes his job and coworkers.

3) Lemon: I have had to clean a ton in the last week because our Realtor came to check our house one day and came to take pictures another day.
Lemonade: I love an immaculate house.

4) Lemon: I am becoming enormous. I have a short waist, and therefore no room for a cute little basketball belly. No, no. My belly is an enormous watermelon. And I've got three more months to go! I know some of you think pregnant women shouldn't care what they gain, but my personal experience has taught me that the fewer pounds gained during pregnancy, the easier it is to shed weight afterward. My last trimesters have never been miserable, and I think it's partly because I've worked out--my muscles have been strong enough to "bear my burdens." So I am working on loving my watermelon body, and being good to it.
Lemonade: I have some muscle tone in my legs and arms, which makes me happy. I'm still glowing off Doug's observation that my forearms seem as strong as his. (But he is pleased to note that his biceps are way bigger than mine). And I love my little daughter-in-utero. Isaac loves putting his hands on my belly so his sister can "kick" him. (I actually cheat and tighten my muscles suddenly so he gets a reaction every time.)

5) Lemon: We just put our house on the market (I actually don't know if it's posted on MLS yet), and haven't heard of any interest.
Lemonade: This probably means I'll deliver my baby here, and get to spend more time with my friends here.

6) Lemon: My classes take a lot of my time, and my students expect a lot of me.
Lemonade: I feel like I've been able to help a lot of them, and their midterm evaluations were very good.

7) Lemon: I tend to hide from my responsibilities by reading "The Wheel of Time" series.
Lemonade: I do love indulging in down time.

Now, I can either look at our budget and begin working on my class, or I can fritter away my time with a little more light reading...

This was a great post and I think I may steal this idea sometime because that really is how life is with lemons and lemonade.

I like your attitude: keeping it real with frosting on top!
